SORTED ! Here is how to remove speedo surround

I done it ! Note refer to the pdf of the City-Jazz manual as uploaded elsewhere on this forum. Page 317 of 436 going by that pdf. This assumes a Japanese ie English driving side steering wheel on right side of car. Sit in driver's seat, using a stubby phillips head screwdriver remove the 2 screws at...

Re: (need help) can't remove speedo surround

Thanks, I'll have another look at it in the daylight tomorrow, and if possible, link to an upload of some stills or a short video which will describe things more clearly. Yeah I expect the inner cable to be snapped in the middle somewhere and I fully expect a bird's-nest internally scoring the insid...

(need help) can't remove speedo surround

Hi folks, I have a 1986 registered (but 1984 according to Honda's parts computer), non-turbo convertible. Imported from Japan into NZ in 1990. The kmilage is huge, can only guess how many times the 5 digit odo has been around the clock. I'm assuming it's about 250,000 kms or 350,000 kms . The main e...

Re: T2 imported from NZ to Australia

Reading this posting (in NZ in 2017) I'm left thinking "In 2004, you got a T2 for just NZ $2,000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Seems to be particularly good vlue for a good turbo model.

Re: Build plate information

I have a naturally aspirated Honda City Cabrio, registered as a 1986 model, imported into NZ in 1990. However when I asked at the Honda dealer for parts and they looked up the body plate number, it comes up in their system as 1984. Maybe a dealer in Japan drove it around on dealer plates for 2 years...

Waterpump replacement... how to guide HERE

Here is how it worked for me, 1986, non-turbo, Japanese import, Cabriolet. Open Bonnet, remove battery lead for safety, open front grill, looking down from above, loosen alternator bolt. Jack left side of car, just a wee bit so as to give you more wriggle-room, from underneath (leave the tyre touchi...

seems to be fixed

My neighbour helped me, my waterpump has now been replaced, test run, the heater is cold, and some of the small diameter ("heater") waterpipes remain cold, even when engine left running long enough that water gauge has warmed up and top and bottom rad hoses both warm. I think it just needs...

water pump replacement

Hi folks, I have a 1986 City cabriolet, non turbo. I am in Christchurch New Zealand. My waterpump was on the way out so thought I'd replace it before it let me down. I undid the 4 wee bolts and it came loose but would not extract from the engine block, seems to be binding on an overhang from the pla...

thanks folks

Thanks for the comments. My flatmate ended up buying the semi-auto City and it seems to go great. We also got, included in the price another City (manual gbox model). Towed that here on an A-frame It *supposedly* has a good motor and gearbox (5 speed) but with parts removed it was unable to be start...

semi-auto trans Fluid check procedure ?

Hi folks. My flatmate just bought a quite nice 1984 City (Jap imported in 1991) with Hondamatic. (Naturally aspirated only) It seems to run fine on the flat here in Chch (haven't had the chance to try any hills yet) I see it has a little dipstick at the bottom right of the engine bay in the area of ...

normal vs Cabrio steel wheels question

Hi folks, I recently bought a NON-turbo Cabrio (Jap import 1986 model) It has fat-tish 170x60 or so wide 13 inch steel rims with plastic trims. I think the same tyre size the turboes have, but turboes might be on factory mags (oh hey my plastic wheel trims are pretty sad, where can I get some replac...
