Re: temp gauge high

Yes, as one learns, don't take the radiator cap off once operating temperature is reached.  This will cause instant boiling throughout the engine and steam powered ejection of contents via radiator cap.  Bugger. Is it losing coolant at all over a couple of duty cycles? If all of the hoses are intact...

Re: b16a into city - is it possible?

Well, just to confuse the issue.  I have seen a City running a Camira 1800 engine and gearbox!  Done by a fellow in the Holden Sporting Car Club.  Who just happened to have the various bits and pieces lying around. Okay.  So he put it in the back.  And kept the battery and radiator in the front.  An...

Re: Fog lights and front grill

Keep an eye out and you'll spot a couple of other grills.  There are up to 4 different grill styles about.  There's the common one that was on the Pro T, same as most T2s.  And there's another one seen around Brisbane that is symetrical.  No blanking off in front of the engine. This style was on the...

Re: wierd s#!t from 4th to 5th

Is this the only change that gave this shudder?  Any other noises from the box?

Checked the gearbox oil level lately?

How're the fluid levels generally?  Been in heavy rain or deep water recently?

Overheated clutch can do that too.

Re: Still not bloody running. why? why? why?

Okay.  So it seems that the problem is resolved.  Good to hear.  Now lets see how the electrical trouble shooting goes.  Good luck and like to know how it goes on the highway and under acceleration.

Re: Still not bloody running. why? why? why?

Sorry doggystyle, but that's not the symptoms. If it's battery, it wouldn't run.  Full stop.  No electricity, no engine management, no fuel pump, no spark.  She no go.  Not start.  If jumper started, it would die the moment the external battery was disconnected (if no charge from alternator.  If alt...

Re: temp gauge high

A simple question. With the radiator cap off (obviously not when the engine is hot, hot.), does the water move when you blip the throttle?  This will show if the water pump is actually moving it as it should.  We did have T2 in the club here where the vanes fell off the shaft.  Not much of a pump li...

Re: Still not bloody running. why? why? why?

Um, back to the topic. Is this car going yet?  Does anyone car about helping? And back to my question.  Any car that starts and then dies slowly is NOT suffering from a battery problem.  Read the original symptom report. That is a classic fuel starvation caused by a restricted flow.  Think about it....

Re: temp gauge high

Hi, Any follow up on this one? My temp gauge rarely went above 1/3.  Except when there were problems, such as no cooling fan, stuck in traffic in 30+ temps, failed thermostat or broken hose. Many radiator companies want to replace/recore our radiators at about the 200,000km mark, claim that the resi...

Re: Still not bloody running. why? why? why?

Hi, Do we have any advance on this? If not, I'd like to suggest the fuel supply. When was the fuel filter last changed?  Even just take it out and back wash it. Is the fuel pump coming on for that 5 sec pre start pressurize?  Is it keeping on keeping on?  Check the pump relay in under the dash on to...

Re: interior light in boot

Hi, That rear interior light is switched by the switch on the light and, maybe, by a switch in the latch mechanism itself.  That bit is a bit difficult to get to.  Mine has been faulty since the panel beaters fixed the hatch.  If you haven't noticed it working when you open and close the hatch, you ...

Re: any common things related to hunting...

Hello hunters, In the search for vacuum leaks, I'd only blamed the multitude of little hoses and the various diaphragms.  But in the twisting and bumping as I extracted the engine at Hondacare a bit over a week ago, I broke off the "dashpot" screw adjuster, on the back of the manifold. Thi...

Re: Fuel

They come with a good recomendation, but a bit difficult to fit to a T1 or T2.

It's okay for you fellows with low pressure fuel lines.  But the setting up for my car was a bit too difficult.

Don't get excited about the beeper.  Passive only and only fit for the rubbish. If at any stage someone has popped in the higher wattage bulbs in the instrument binacle, the rate of the plastic cooking is greater, and more widespread.  I hard wired some of the bulbs and replaced them all with the lo...

Re: Fuel

Go Optimax/Vortex/Ultimate.  These will not harm a Civic engine. It's not the valve guides that get any benefit from the tetraethyl.  It's the valve seats.  Valve seats in the Civic can cope if they're in good condition to begin with, and you're not running the engine lean. One of the lads in our cl...
