Re: T1 symptoms

Did you happen to notice what the boost gauge showed at the time?

You may've either had either the overboost fuel cutoff cut-in, or the blow-by valve releasing.  Which it shouldn't do.

Have you done the overhaul of the fuel pump relay contacts?

Turbo advertised 25 Feb 06

Hi Guys, My brother-in-law spotted this in the Saturday Newcastle (NSW) newspaper: HONDA City turbo, '85 1 running, 1 not, $1200 for both, unreg... 0423 866 940 No other details known, and not having any spare space, I can't do anything about it.  Anyone interested in following it up.  Or maybe we'r...

Intercooler water spray cooling.

Hey everybody, The latest issue of Silicon Chip has an article about building a water spray cooler for our intercoolers. This seems an interesting idea.  Has anybody actually had any practical experience with this?  I can imagine doing a super cooled water supply to enhance the effect. It's intended...

Re: Nice T2 in Darra

By crikey, that means there are even more out there than we thought!

I'll have to do something about mine again.

Scott was pretty optimistic about getting the other T at HondaCare sorted out soon too.

Good to hear.

But does anyone know anything about the white one at Yeronga?

Re: Nice T2 in Darra

Okay, does this car have any damage to the front left guard, right next to the headlight?  And a phone number in the back window? If so, it's a turbo in name only.  Sure the turbo is still bolted on, but the shaft has been siezed for about 3 years! The owner couldn't afford to have it fixed, so he's...

Re: Cold start idle

I understand your feelings about it.  When I first found an owners manual for my S600 I was shocked to find that the warm up was 2500 for at least 5 minutes?  Wha????  I was used to idles of 500rpm and 850 at cold. Remember the early Mazda rotaries?  Oh, sorry, you weren't even in an ovay then.  In ...

Re: Cold start idle

A couple of points to bear in mind before you wind back that idle.  That cold idle speed has been chosen to make your engine last longer and also to produce lower emissions. A high idle from cold is essential to pump bulk oil to everywhere in the engine as soon as possible.  And it also gets it warm...

Re: question

Yep, one high pressure fuel filter.  I think the alternative is from the 1st series Integra and go non-genuine. Definitely easier to undress the front quarter guard to get at the washer bottle and pumps.  You'll probably find some rust in the guard down the bottom, so it's a good opportunity to tidy...

Re: help!! the instrument binicle is not coming ou

Hey city_racer, As above, 2 screws to remove the black under trim, then 3 screws to remove the top cover, then 2 on each end to remove the instrument cluster, and the speedo drive and 3 multiway wire connectors and one bullet connection.  Proabably.  The speedo cable is the most difficult to undo an...

Re: T1 Problem

I do endorse the second method there.  Put the car up on some ramps, if you can.  Otherwise jack it and get it onto some axle stands. There's the fiddly heat shields on the body firewall to take off.  They do do a good job, so don't damage them. You'll probably never get the cat temp sensor off at t...

Re: T1 Problem

Maybe not, but maybe.  You'll need to pull the turbo out and clean it up.  They can be dismantled easily.  And reassembled with the same ease. Make sure that you mark the alignement of the turbo housings on the core before you take it all apart. If you can pull the turboshaft out easily, note that t...

Re: car not going!!

With that hunting, two things to check, coolant bled at nipple beside distributer?  And does adjusting the idle air bypass screw make any difference?

Excellent.  Wish my T2's problem was that simple.

Good luck and enjoy your rocket.

Re: car not going!!

Let's be kind here and say that the mate in charge of timing really did check the position of the distributor rotor against the timing mark on the flywheel and it's right where it's supposed to be, but I've seen this symptom from another equally "What a goose!" scenario. Are you sure that ...

Re: Driveshaft Question

Where are you?

There's a mob in Coorparoo whoo stock our driveshafts and can do the job in under 40 minutes (drive in, drive out.)

They also supply nationally.

If you're interested, I can dig up their name.
