Re: 1982 civic wagon  BRIS AUST

Bigelboe, Another tip for you...1stGen Prelude strut housings both fronts and rears will work on your 2ndGen, but you need the Prelude front uprights and the Prelude lower control arms as those are heavier duty than the Civic ones. What's the point? The Prelude strut housings are threaded so you can...

Re: John S - Rocker Cover

Hi Bigelboe, Yeah I don't know what the deal is with the Email crap, Ive had trouble with a few other messages as well. If I didn't know better I'd think that some little cocksu----r  computer hacker was fn with me, but then THAT would be paranoid...not that I haven't been accused of THAT in the pas...

Re: Diff Swappability

Thought maybe I'd better clarify that...the smaller pattern crank fits right up to the 1st and 2nd Gen trannies if like Bigelboe said earlier, you us the proper clutch and flywheel assemblies. The larger crank pattern fits up to the larger trannies used in the Accords and Preludes.

Re: Diff Swappability

Later USA spec 1751 EK's (I like to call them EK2 though Honda never made this designation), have a larger centerline on the crank bolts. In USA Honda changed somewhere in 1981, so some of the cars had the earlier smaller pattern 1751, (EL to you guys) cranks, and some of the later 1981 cars and 198...

Re: Diff Swappability

I don't remember where I heard it, but I know I heard it from more than one source. Maybe Don over on the 1stGen site can comfirm or reject the idea. All I know is having a "minimal" 85 HP EB-3 stroker for 10+ years on the road I was never able to launch it full power in 1st gear there was...

Re: Diff Swappability

Interesting, I was under the impression that you could modify Quaife LSD from the 84-87 to fit the earlier boxes.
BTW, are we still on for the Turbo camcover?
Did you recieve the Email I sent you a while back regarding the camcover gaskets?

Re: where did you hear of CityTURBO.com ?

It's all Colza's fault. He started dropping hints over on Richard Nasr's old 1st Gen Civic site, and the next thing I knew, I was an addict.(or at least close to it) :o

Re: All For A Carby

Yeah, I forgot about the Turbo being a CVCC design. Too bad Honda didn't use the non-CVCC style head with a dished piston to pull the comp ratio back in line for the Turbo motor. The Quench designed into the non CVCC  head as pictured is excellant for a Turbo motor if kept to a max of 8.5 to 9 comp ...

Re: All For A Carby

I just took a close look at the pics of the  combustion chamber, and I see that there is beaucoux space between the valves so that is not the problem, but a warped head could be, so check the head and the block for flatness. One other thing, both the intake and the exhaust valves are shrouded, but y...

Re: All For A Carby

You know what? Let me make an uneducated guess and say that I bet the head for nonTurbo and Turbo motors are the same, and the Turbos have either shallower domes or flat tops on the pistons. :P Buy the way I would also look over the head real closely especially in the area between the valves for cra...

Re: All For A Carby

Say is that a Turbo, or non Turbo head and piston top? And also what is the compression ratio of an assembled motor? Also, I 've got to say that looks like water,(steam) damage to me. I'd guess you had a seeping or leaking headgasket that was sucking water into those chambers...let us not forget, wa...

Re: Something different

Oh yeah, My old dad used to call things that got screwed up "discombobulated" So I strongly recommend not buying anything called the Discombobulator. ;D
