Re: Something different

OK,I have been watching the overly convincing commercials onTV for a year now, with all these "big" names saying how great it is  But just recently I read an article I think it was in "Motortrend"  magazine where they tested several of these wonder gimmics, and you know what? The...

Re: Port Matching!?

Port matching is not a waste of time, but the most important work to be done is in the "bowl" area just behind the valve in each port. a little sensible cleanup work in this area gives you the most bang for your dollars, but you don't want to over do it. The idea is NOT to hog out the port...

Re: fs : t1 city

Who ever ends up buying this car, would you be willing to sell me the camcover and the Turbo exhaust manifold? (Sounds like it is really a parts car) ???

Re: #4 went down... what to do :(

Say Justin, Have you considered having stainless valves made up custom? I talked to WebCam about it for an EL head a couple of years ago, and though it is not cheap, it would give gains in both reliability, and power as well. Using stainless they can really pare down the thickness of the valve head ...

Re: Bigger pistons

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but if it was me, and by the way, I AM following this approach on the Turbo 1600 I am assembling the pieces for, I would concentrate on the combustion chamber design rather that change the pistons. They are flattops right? If so they are ideal for Turbo applicatio...

Re: Cityturbo.com

Hey, I liked the ones that Colt Turboes used back in the early 80's. just a simple line of print in white along the bottom of the rear hatch window, "Step on the Gas, You'd better mean it!" ;D

Re: ZC motor in Series 1 Civic

You have to cut the car up to my mind, rather severely to fit one in. I would say if you are starting with a body which was pretty far gone and you are resurrecting it then hey, do what ever you want to it. But if you are starting with a rust free solid 1st Gen, then I would never cut a car like tha...

Re: Gearbox Whine

Yeah, I guess not having to deal with 0 degree weather might have some effect on that, I once tried some AMSoil full synthetic 10W-40 in an early 1stGen 5-speed, and I had no problems with it, but when I was in Virginia I swapped in a 2nd Gen tranny and put the other 5-speed into another Civic, prom...

Re: Gearbox Whine

Dammit, I hate it when I drain a gearbox and some COBBLER has put something other than engine oil in there...never know how long the box will last after that. My suggestion is run it a week or so and drain it again and refill with fresh oil again...these cars, (Including 1stGens) are 20+ years  on t...

Re: Head Gasket

OK, here's my basic plan... Lynx single side draft manifold, Jenvey short DCOE style throttle body,( for clearance and which is a bolt on), custom  intake plenum. Iif I can find one a Turbo City exhaust manifold,  and rather extensive rework on the combustion chambers in the head. ;D  I'm hoping for...
