Re: Mechanic...
G'day Mat, I know that this is pretty obvious, but have you spoken to the Honda Car Club of Victoria? There's at least one T2 in it and a couple of good Honda mechanics as club members. Give David Prince a call on 03 9807 3630. He will be very helpful in heading you in the right direction. Pity th...

Re: Pro T elec prob's (longish post)
Hi SS, Your last 6 words might be the answer, but... How many k's on the Pro? The slip rings on the alternator last about 200,000 km. And the symptom is the charge light flickering for a little while then on. No charge and then flat battery. But in that last while it still throws a charge. But if...

Re: Still not bloody running. why? why? why?
Hi Smithy, I'm not sure about the situation. Did the battery lose power whilst disconnected, or not? Next meeting is Monday August 8th. SAAA club rooms, Beatty Road (emergency entrance 1), Archerfield. From 7.40pm. And Car Care Day, at HondaCare, 1 Spine Street, Sumner Park, August 20. (If inter...

Re: my mates T2
Hello, Okay, so it's good to know that that car is still getting around. Even with all of that extra drag, it always got better economy than mine. He could average better than 8 l/100 per tank. But the real downside with those tyres? A real bugger on wet roads. Aquaplane on a heavy dew. And wha...

Re: Still not bloody running. why? why? why?
G'day, Here's a suggestion for isolating the problem. Get your trusty mulitmeter, doesn't matter if it's a digital or analogue one. Clean those probes up, but I didn't have to remind you of that as they're always clean and shiny. Now get down on your knees in the supplicant position leaning in th...

Re: t2 not running
Hi iky, If the problem is the ignitor, the part number is: 30120-PH4-005. And a couple of years ago the price was closer to $300 than $200. It's the bit that the wire from the coil goes to and sits inside the distributor, around the shaft. Simple electronics, but expensive, especially if this isn't...

Re: Help my car keeps dying
Okay, always a bit difficult to do from here but, I'd certainly be suspecting a relay. Go for the fuel pump relay first, pull it out and resolder all of the terminals. It seems that many of us have had this problem. As have quite a few other Hondas. Not sure about the lights, but I'd be getting in...

Re: Gasket sets in Aus
Hello, Just to ease the concern on the head gasket. Yes, the standard City head gasket does work in the T2. The block is the same as far as bore and studs, oil transfer galleys and water ports. We have a colleague in Melbourne who's using one. And he was able to get the CVCC valve stem seals easil...

Hi there,
AeroShell make an oil specifically for long term storage of engines. You may have to chase them at your local airport. It's intended for "set and forget".
I've never needed to use it, so I've got no idea on cost.
regards,
Campbell

Re: smokey
Hi turbocab, Even though it seems that this is pretty much undercontrol, does the car usually have really short duty cycles? Like no more than 5-10 minutes a time? Does it get a highway blast of at least 50 minutes at least once a month? If all it gets is little runs, it doesn't get a chance to cl...

Re: radiator problems
Chris, Is this all that's happened? For the coolant bottle to fill, there's usually something amiss deep inside the engine. How's the underside of the oil filler cap? How's the oil level and colour? Don't want to worry you unduly, but if it's pushing coolant out, you run the risk of overheating. ...

Those in the SE Qld area should keep an eye out for Holden Sporting Car Club motorkhanas. There's a "Pro T" there that has no engine under the bonnet. It has a Camira engine in the back! The guy just happend to have a City with a rooted engine and someone offerred him a Camira front cut....

Re: Head Gasket
Hi Turbo 3, Back to the headgasket problem. One old trick that is still worth while, paint the head and block surfaces, and both sides of the head gasket with a paint like Silvafrost. It contains fine aluminium particals and gives an additional fitting surface. The paint must be properly dry befo...

Re: coolant change
One tip, be gentle with the drain plug under the radiator. Made of plastic and known to break off. You must always run the car with a corrosion inhibited anti-freeze. There have been some very dodgy mixtures over the years, so choose a quality one. Even if it means going genuine Honda. I'm trying...

Re: #4 went down... what to do :(
Oops, forgot the dreaded blown headgasket possibility. Well, I didn't want to think of that one. Check the behaviour of the coolant in the radiator when you blip the throttle and also for the presence of grey gunk under the oil filler cap (the old water in the oil trick). If the water froths and b...
