basically because what i welded in is all i had.. i only cut 20mm off the new piece to make a nice join and remove some rust that was on that end. ideally it would be better to get a full piece, but i didnt have that option. The welds have been ground down a bit anyway, will put some seam sealer ove...

t2 hatch rattle

Anyone elses hatch rattle? Basically there is movement/play with the hatch when it is shut, i can move it back and forth a few mm. Even when dialing the catch all the way forward there is some minor play. I cant see any damage either.

Just wondering if anyone has the same issue/is it a common thing?

any suggestions as to which areas benefit the most from some seam welding?

along the firewall where it meets the struts? or along the out side where it is sealed up near the door hinges?

looking for the best effort to result because it is unlikely i will tackle most areas.

Not 100% but quite close enough seeming as though there would have been minor distortion in the rest of the engine bay etc. <...

:!: anyway, just minor update for those who like basic pics. The windscreen, sunroof and corner rust has been cut out and welded up (although a bit ghetto). Put some por15 down, which seemed to stick alright.. Then some tie coat on top, which hasnt fully cured yet, but i am a bit concerned with the ...

you cant really combat a generalisation with a generalisation. i just recall my friends progressive king springs being fairly inconsistant between the pair. King springs here have low rep because they seem to aim for the market that just wants to dump their car.. hence all their progressive springs ...

well i am no expert, and i presume you arent either..

but stuff like grades of steel.. dont king springs have 2 grades available from memory?

anticorrosion properties, manufacturing process, coil consistancy etc.

in a general rule i would trust german engineering over australian.

well the engine that came with the car was a er-510xxxx this other engine is a er-511xxxx so i presume the 11 is actually newer.. turbo on the 11 was a vg2 though

only single layer.. prob the coating has just stuck to the head or something..
