The difference between the city engine and most other small 4 cylinders is it's low reving nature. Peak power is made at around 5500rpm where as corolla seca 4AGE will happily rev to near 8000. That's why the cityT is geared so high... It makes alot of torque at low revs.

As i remember there are two 10mm bolts close together halfway down the timing cover. Undo the right hand one a bit and then do it up. That should be all you need to do, it just lets more spring preload in the tensioner to take up the slack of the belt. Job done!

Yep, im now into my third 'box! On wednesday i gave it a full power run through 5th gear to see what the speedo goes up to. It stops at 180kmh ;) Doing that must have worked 5th nice and hard because straight after that it started to whine and carry on really really bad! Swapped it for a spare ...
