Whos raced?
Whos raced?
Okay, well I'm throwing the little sucker down the 1/4 on the 12th, minus boost cut, intake and no exhaust, guessing I'll just get mega overboost so I'll see what pressure I end up running anyway ;D
Anyone else been down? This site needs a leaderboard of them I think! What do ya reckon I'll manage? Hoping for high 14s if I can do it, otherwise 15s alone will be a crack up ::)

Boostcutting all the way down and wheelspinning on a wet and muddy track: 17.608 @ 129.85
Re: Whos raced?
my best in a civic with a turbo 2 conversion was a 15.4, I got no traction what so ever so not a pretty bad run i guess

Re: Whos raced?
a drag strip full of people who have travelled a distance to first of all get to the dragstrip and then have bad weather.. but a dragstrip with badweather and a bunch of good spirited people who still want to give it ago is a wicked strip - although track conditions are totally crap.

Re: Whos raced?
In my old green city i managed 15.2 on 14 psi but get this
I had 205/55/15s on it and i was wheel spinning all the way through 1st and 2nd and quite alot of 3rd.
I had my runs video taped and man i have never seen any car that needed suspension done more than that.
I thought 205/15s would be enough but i guess i was wrong. I mean whats the point when the car just lifts the front and doesnt put any weight on those good tires???
The moral of my story is - if you want good times down the 1/4 from the city either get the front suspension done or just take the springs out so that the front is way lower than the back or something.

Re: Whos raced?
BTW - it was 15.2 @ 150 km/h as you can see got very good top end but just absolutely s$#t traction man i miss that car
Re: Whos raced?
Did you guys do burnouts before you went down the track to warm up the tyres?
I did'nt when I took my 200sx and ended up going sideways halfway up the track most runs.... did'nt realise how much difference the temp of the tyres makes!

Re: Whos raced?
It does sweet f-all for street tyres.
Tried them in the VR4, (rollbacks count, its a 4wd and I have no other option), and it did absolutely nothing for traction. Heaps of the nissan boys give it a go as well, street tyres dont grip more with heat, they just kinda go off unless they are pretty much street legal slicks. An LSD is the thing you need most, and maybe wheelie bars ::)
And dammit, I can't make it to these drags, works decided I should be working on that sunday. Not amused at all.

Re: Whos raced?
if u do a HUGE burnout and bake the tires, all u do it lay rubber the whole track
i have done about 60-80 passes and i have found this 2 be true
except with 1 set of tires i had, they liked the heat

Re: Whos raced?
The back suspension is what really needs attention if you want to lay some good 1/4's. It needs to be MUCH firmer, cut down honda legend springs would be a good cheap start, only run the for drags and it would be ok.

Re: Whos raced?
Ive spent alot of time on another honda with a turbo (yes i like hondas and turbos) tons of power, massive time difference made by suspention!...
get the rear as hard as possible, the front resonably soft.
City standard suspention i think will limit a lot of the nicely tuned citys (or civics) running turbo motors.
Wheel spin is bad
yeah, the burnout thing, more tire specific, remember even the big guys just lay the strip with rubber, then line up on it to run back over the fresh sticky rubber...
