lol ...prefer Recaro myself being on the larger side .

Smithy , depends where ya goin ta put it front rear and what type of capsule . most have their own harness and use existing  seat belts with a parcel shelf or floor anchor .
Need more detail son .

ok ok....

my wife and I are expecting our first (only?!) child
in September ....so I was wondering if any ones
fitted a baby seat/capsule/booster THING to a city before?!

I've seen thi sslick one by Auger (?) thats a replica of a recaro (etc) race seat, with the padding, head shoulder
thigh supports etc....and it looks really cool!  haha
anyway its probably actually posturely and safety wise
a good design....
so I was thinking what people have any experience with them, size wise (not for yourself doggystyle)...

do we have to get them specially fitted the anchor points etc I mean!??!

thanks guys... Im telling myself I wont have to upsize the car cause I love my city to pieces....  :-[

Honestly the best thing to do is go along to a baby wear shop and try out some for size fit etc . Expect to fit a couple floor bolts as anchors behind the rear seats .I know we were able to rent one til baby was too big for the first one which was like basket with handles . It had its own restraining harness and was placed in lying down position using seatbelts but the belt wasn't inertia type so cant help ya there . Would assume you will need to have a more secure fixing method as the belt isnt going to lock unless you brake .
Best to go and ask the experts I reckon .And congrats by the way , let me guess , good New Years Eve had by all I take it .
lol

You will need an anchor point fitted in the rear, have to have that here to get compliance, my 3 have a simple threaded plate mounted behind the lip on the bottom of the hatch door frame, should have engineering justification in case someone gets hurt in it some day.

Smithy,

My T2 has the threaded bolt holes up high, one each side.  Makes much more sense than the low mounts that are in similar age Civics.  You can still use the luggage area.  The baby seat/capsule also uses the seatbelts to hold it down.  At least the one that I've had experience with.

When the time comes, check the Saturday Courier Weekend Shopper classifieds.  My friend picked one up for less than $80.  It needed a little restitching and some new foam padding, but from reading it in the classifieds to cleaned and ready to go, less than a weekend.

Your life will never be the same again!

regards,
Campbell

cool thanks, so far Ive actually got three people promised us capsules....Im just unsure of whats the safest, etcetera.

Im not least bit concerned about loosing boot space over safety just wondering whether new holes will need drilling or bolts weled on or whatever.....

I really should try out the ones we've been given for fit
and securing...

thanks!!
