piston rings

Postby Justin » Tue Oct 18, 2005 7:49 am

I'm having a hard tinme trying to match up a set of piston rings here in canada  ??? the closest I've found are CBR motorcycle pistons.. Does anybody know the part # for a set of piston rings? I tried contacting a few parts stores in NZ and to no avail  :-/  I have a friend going to Japan next week, and I can have him pick up a  actual set from there, the only problem he knows nothing about cars  :( If I can get him a part # I might be in luck  :)

Hey, try ACL (Automotive Components Limited) they're Australian, but you can browse the catalogues online or download them.

http://www.acl.com.au/web/aclwebsite.nsf/8df7d3f7b605537a4a2569660082eda8/d471e204d39aacab4a256967000e2321/$FILE/Catalog%20-%20AR98.pdf

im pretty sure thats the rings link in pdf format.

I got my NA city Rings from them and sweet as.

Otherwise google companies and see if they have a distributor that can ship to you.

Goodluck!

That company you delt with for gaskets has ring sets Justin.

goto http://www.staparts.co.nz click on products and search for this "RS1881 STDC" $55 for a full set is pretty reasonable

Justin,
You might want to consider getting the second set of rings oversize , because there is a good chance you'd need to bore the block to build again... of course that then suggests a set of oversize pistons as well. But then as we are finding out it's pretty hard to figure for years in advance what we will need, and then if we can still get it. We would each of us need to stock 1,000's of dollars in parts to be fully covered. The list seems endless.

Which was why we didn't go with them, stuff paying $150.

I think we got some suzuki rings, can't remember excatly what type. And got the piston groves slightly machined to fit them. Around $110 all up including machining.

that's excellent  :) It would probably be easier for me to directly order them from Florida (I live in Canada) I've found the site that makes them, but I can't find the part# on the site (the page is down :( ) do you have the part # ?

what a pain in the *** :o I still have yet to get rings  >:( I've even tried Honda NZ, and they came back discontinued  :(  but I got the factory part # 13011-PD1-004, It seems the city and city turbo use different rings.. the normal is 1.5 1.5 4.0mm and the turbo is 1.2 1.2 2.8mm and allof the sources I've tried only list the regulars, but alas in Taiwan I've found 2 suppliers that produce them, Now it's just a waiting game.. the part #'s are YCP-407 and HD66001

Yo Justin,
Sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time sourcing all your parts. I think we will all be dealing with same before too long. Might be a good idea for all of us to start inventorying any and all parts for rebuilds we might concievably need in the future.
I wonder if, whilst you still have the head off, you might be able to take some pics of the combustion chambers and post them?
I'd like to see if Honda did anything trick on them since they were to be used on a Turbo'ed motor.

Well, I finally talked to someone at Grant that know's what he is doing, he put together the right set of rings, and the motor is now going back together. He will inform Segdin of the wrong listing for the ring and have them create a new part # for the turbo rings  :)
