Today was possibly the first time a T04 has ever had the exhast gasses of a 1200 going through it ;D. It went really hard. Starts compressor surging at about 10 pounds in 3rd gear though that was without a BOV or wastegate. Unregulated it never hit boost cut (started surging instead ) I think i can safely say this is a great success, with the 1800 accord block going on in a few months, this beast is gonna kick some serious ass
PS
ran into quite serious where the f**k are we going to run the dump pipe issues and i really dont think theres gonna be much room for one on a city, sorry guys

Re: T04 Boostin' Hard!!!
Excellent work guys! ;D
How much boost are you going to run assuming it gets enough gas through? Should be much better with 1800 EK block. There'll be some very nervous Skylines out there soon eh!

Re: T04 Boostin' Hard!!!
The goal was always 30 pound ;D realistically it would be nice to get at least 15 into the 1800. Hopefully get some Arias Forgies in there too...preferably before we break anything!

Re: T04 Boostin' Hard!!!
Its an '84 T2 and apart from the turbo, there are only minor mods.
HD Clutch
Pod filter (budget kind)
BOV: Quest 4 but doesnt open cos boost isnt high enough
2.5" exhaust turbo back
35mm external wastegate
Crap little slightly larger than stock intercooler

Good Sutff man keep it up guyz
Turbo2 ;D
Re: T04 Boostin' Hard!!!
how are you going to get around the compressor surge?
Re: T04 Boostin' Hard!!!
Discovered this evening that it is not just any old T04...this T04 glows
RED H ;D T!!!
The compressor surge will soon be alleviated by an 1800 accord block, hopefully rebuilt with some shiny new forgies if I can get enough work in over the holidays (highly unlikely but Ill be damned if Im not gonna try )
Also with my newly found glowing turbo anyone know what sort of protective measures I should me making? I was thinking extend turbo timer to as long as possible for a start. Also quite worried about my poor gasket paper. Had great difficulties getting it to seal, now that is out of the way I just hope it was designed with performance cars in mind :-/

Re: T04 Boostin' Hard!!!
the problem is i dont think your throttle body and such will allow that much air to pass...
I think you might have the exact same problem with an 1800 block...
It will be very interesting to see

Re: T04 Boostin' Hard!!!
Quicklude, so you tihnk it is the throttle body causing the setup to surge? That is a very undersized throttle body. I just went for a ride in Colzas car and it has a very weird power hole around 0-4psi of boost. It pulls up to 0psi then hesitates like a b1atch until it hits around 4-5psi then pulls like a jumbo jet (and sounds like one ;D). Not really sure what happening here whether it is a sensor/fueling issue or some form of restriction or something weird happening with the turbo. We'll soon be fixing that throttle body issue I am thinking of fitting something of a falcon they are really quite large, about the same size as the outlet of the turbo no point in going bigger I guess as then you are just making something else the restriction. I thought that the compressor surge would be due to the small size of the valves or generally the small capacity of the engine, that throttle body idea is a good point. Might head to pic-a-part and get some things to experiment with.
Re: T04 Boostin' Hard!!!
The city motor does not have the flow to support a TO4. Take a look at the compressor map for a TO4 and the surge line.
Compressor surge is a very hard thing to explain but you probably have investigated it to great length.
Compressor surge is really dangerous for your turbo, you get a spike in pressure that causes the surge, during this event flow reverses and already expent gasses pass back into the compressor to be recompressed. This causes a f#$king hot turbo. The shock waves passing back to the impeller will damage bearings, or loosen the retaining nut as they try and slow the compressor. After a surge event the compressor will try to get back to normal stable speed, but the TO4 passes too much air and is spinning too slowly with the 1200 to maintain a stable operating speed (except at maybe a very short rpm window).
Good luck though sounds like you are having a lot of fun with it.

Re: T04 Boostin' Hard!!!
That may be explaining the toasty red hotness of my turbo...not a good thing at all :-/
When I took the dump pipe off yesterday to try and sort out my gasket issues, I gave it a flick and it spun like silk...hopefully i dont fag it up too quickly.
