New Brakes for T1
New Brakes for T1
Yes i just tried search. I need new rotors and pads for my T1 and as they are different to the N/A City i was just woundering if some one new what they might be? I think i read some where maybe on another site that they were off some sort of prelude, but not sure? Was also thinking about replacing the rotors with DBA cross drilled and sloted for extra braking. Any help would be great Matty.
Re: New Brakes for T1
As you need new ones, just head to a brake shop and they should sort you out. They are not the same as standard city ones.

Non turbo, solid rotors. Turbo, vented rotors?

T1 has ventilated disks, Prelude ones.

While messing with a brake conversion for my civic i looked at brakes from many hondas. The city Turbo ones are unlike any of the others that i looked at. Yes i am pretty sure that an NA city has solid and thinner rotors. Maybe the T1's have similar to NA brakes, but T2 are very different to T1.

Care to explain what the difference is Colza?
I have some spare T1 disks, they seem to be just like my T2 ones, just smaller. Is there something im missing?
Cheers

There was something different im sure! Maybe im just confused. One set nearly fit my civic, while the other (T1?) was absolutely nowhere near...
Re: New Brakes for T1
I've read the bit about the Front brakes being the same as a Prelude but when I went looking for bits for my T11 we couldn't match it with any Prelude that was sold in Australia, perhaps it was a Japanese one! I was looking at caliper seals and boots, not discs.

Re: New Brakes for T1
When I dropped the turbo in my cab I was planning on swapping in the T1 disks at the same time since I figured the turbo would have bigger disks than the n/a cab, but wrong! Turned out that the cab disks were bigger than the T1, don't know how they compare to the TII disks but might be worth a look.

Re: New Brakes for T1
The cab would probably have T2 disks as the rest of the chassis is the same as the T2. Like suspension arms etc.

Re: New Brakes for T1
out of interest, go to DiskBrakes Australia site...
for 1980's preludes they list several differant sizes of
disks and pads for dif models ,
so maybe measure what you exactly need (offsets or whatever they are) , thinkness diameter etc, and compare to what DBA website shows...
maybe we can narrow down exact replacemtn part
numbers that way.
