dunno if painting them black will do too much, but i do think that maybe investing in some heat wrap like they use on headers for your piping would be a good idea as it keeps heat out of the piping quite effectively my friend was able to run an extra 3 pounds when he did this on his silvia...

That heat wrap is amazing stuff put it on my pipe down to the exhaust from the turbo. After 20mins hard running you can stick your hand on the wrap and still not get burnt!

Painting it black will make it loose heat faster, but also GAIN heat faster! Straight off the turbo black is good. After the cooler you want shiny so it doesnt pick up engine bay heat on the way through. And try and avoid running the pipe after the cooler over the engine if at all possible.

Hyperblade:
Yes it is good like that, but it will half the lifespan of your exhaust/extractors. I believe this is due to the extremely high temps you get under the wrap because, as you have found out, it cant lose any of it. Also partly because the wrap soaks up water and leaves the water sitting against your piping.

Really Colza?

Just for clarification whats an extrator?

I still think it is worth doing, I have lowered my underbonnet temperatures by at least 3/4.  And Im now not worried about the fuel lines getting to hot.  ;)

I have only wrapped down to where the exhaust goes horizontal so it wont get wet.

Extractors would be the runners from the flange on the engine to where your exhaust becomes a single pipe. On a turbo it would be the bit between your engine and the turbo exhaust housing. If you are using the factory manifold there would be very little point in wrapping it so i suppose that doesnt really apply here...

Ok that clears that up. Next question Colza what are headers? The intake manifold?

Cheers
