Setting the ignition timing requires a timing light and the mark on the flywheel. Unless he was very observant of how far he turned the engine over to get to the mark I'd say he had no idea of whether the mark was 20 or 28. Most likely it was a little over and he has now set it back to the mark...

Hopefully...

Personally, id go with Henry cos he actually has some data to refer to. However the 28 that bigelboe and i keep coming up with definately comes into it somewhere, though apparently its not T11 timing advance :-/

T11 is definately 20, and that is the only mark it has besides TDC. Maybe the T1 is 28?

I still maintain that it doesnt matter what the actual number is, because it just gets set to the mark. And the mark will correct unless you have swapped on a defferent gearbox and flywheel. Without actually measuring where the mark is you have no way of knowing...

Hey my T2 did some funny gearbox stuff a while back. Was hard to pull it from 5th to 4th one time then 4th to 5th felt weird. Started making some noises in 4th after that, and I thought the box was dying. Noises then got worse in every gear and I had to change it as the input bearing had gone completely. Be on the lookout for gearbox noises!  :-/
