got new cooler today!

Postby turbocab » Tue Apr 19, 2005 6:32 pm

;Dyay my new cooler finally arrived today,it looks realy good quality and its thick as f#@k ;D
they originally sent me the wrong one,the thing wasnt even close it was huge ::)
now the only thing holding me back is a pair of reducers to convert the 2 inch piping down to the stocko piping size,is it 1.5 inch? it is isnt it

Custom made?! How much did that beasty set you back :o

Go the other way, run 2" piping and put the reducer at the other end, keep as much of it big as possible!

I see where my plenum fits into all of this now!

not custom, its from a civic turbo kit,it cost $1000 ::)but it came with a big ass box of 2in alloy piping/ bends/joiners/rubber bends/and hose clamps.so that takes care of going the other way :P
2 inch to 1.5inch?reducers for the turbo and the plenum ;)

If you want to be cheap you can get some 1 3/4" hose (like VR4 intercooler hose) and then warm it up and force it over the 2" and clamp it down like a bitch on the 1.5" ;D

But, having spent that much so far, you may as well do it properly. You should be able to get Silicone reducers for that size.

Thats the sort of thing, might have to do a bit of ringing round to get one in 1.5" though.

new cooler is all hooked up ;D ;D ;D
took it for a drive seems to run good and ime still making 10 to 11psi ;D i thaught ide get a bit of a pressure drop ??? got a pod filter on there aswell, new ignition leads and of course my new turbosmart bov finally hookedup, but ime having the same trouble with not getting it to blow off :( i think the spring is too hard because its fair harder than the spring in the old plastic fantastic bov
ile go have a talk to the guys at autobarn and see if weaker springs are avalible, the spring in it is marked with pink paint witch makes me think theres different ones and their colour coded can any one shed some light
smeagol you have a turbosmart type1 dont you?what colour spring is in yours?
cheers matty
