Heres a pic of the complete set, arrived this morning.

It seems the bottom end set is a generic ER engine one, just for any city, But the head set says ER-5 on it, which is the code for the turbo engine so it must be different from NA ER.

Image

Both of the sets were proudly made in Aus, both wear "Asbestos Free" emblems and they have manufacture dates. One was made in January this year, and one was made at the end of last year. I think people in australia were just dicking you around. Maybe with the numbers and stuff on these packs turbocab might be able to find out what the story is over there.

Just make sure it is a T2 set, as they are different from T1's,

The set has the same packaging as the one i got.

Eh? I dont think T2 set is different from T1 set. Heads were the same apart from valve head diameters and compression. Ah wait, the throttle body's that will be the difference, they had different diameter. The t1 kit might also have a seal for the EGR valve thingie. It would make sense to me for a company to make one universal set, and have a couple of gaskets that are redundant for whichever engine you put it in.

After screwing around and going to repco a few times with them making a few calls, I finally got the same info as turbocab.  They dont sell them in Australia because they contain asbestos, so they shipped them over to NZ instead. They apparently no longer make them now too.

So Bigelboe do you think you would be able to pick me up just the VRS kit??

Cheers!

Sounds like you need to "Crack some skulls" over there. They clearly say that the sets do not contain asbestor, and that the sets were made in australia earlier this year!?!?!

But yes Si, I will be able to hook you up with the same kit. Once turbocabs is all sent and good and I know how much it cost to post it, then Ill order one for you. Fire me an email at

bigelboe at gmail dot com

With your details and confirming what you want and stuff.

Cheers

Hahah Nice one turbocab, "You Go Girl!!" :P

Just another reason why you guys should move over here to join the land of easily obtainable parts, JDM heaven and better looking girls ;D ;D AND much better skifields

I lived in Brisvegas for seven years and I've never looked back since moving over here :P :P (Except when it rains solidly and the temperatures are under 10 degrees for weeks in a row, thats ghey.)

Talked to dad about the kit we got, hes sure they were made here in NZ, the kit looked like the above.

Also would the stem seals not be the same as all generic citys? there shouldn't be any difference for the turbo ones should there?

Someone in Australia does sell a gasket set for the Turbo models, I did a search on gaskets about 2 years ago and found a listing but didn't save the address, have looked several times since without success.

had a good look and think about what i have to do to take the head off,and i dont think i am really up for it.
my mechanic is going to check out the car on monday and determine weather or not i really need to replace the head gasket he seems to think it is ok considering theres no oil in coolant and viceversa.
ile get him to do the valve stem seals if the gasket is sweet
