Gearbox oil to use?

Hey all,

Quick question on recommendations for 5spd manual gearbox - which oil to use? Any one found a particular oil good?

Ive got a leak from the outer seal where the right hand driveshaft goes into the gearbox, so figured since the levels getting a bit low, it could do with a change anyhows.

I think whatevers in there is a little too thin, cause the syncrhos are a bit noisy and obviously wearing on the first three gears.

Something thicker to get her to hang in there a little longer?

20w40 engine oil is recomended in the manual and by many knowledgable members here,and ive used it and it seems to perform well.
also a quick search of past posts would have gained this same info.

i did search, and found some results suggesting engine oil, and had a feeling that was the go, but thought couldnt hurt to ask outright anyhows.

ill see how it all goes.

There used be a guy from Honda told me all Honda manual gearbox can use good ATF oils for track purpose, such as those from Motul and Redline. Anyone get experience with this?

Pretty sure I put a Motul synthetic equiv. in my first Turbo 2, helpd the gearchanges VERY much, made the box change quicker and feel better, I'd recommend it.
