T1 vs T2?

Postby HB » Wed Feb 15, 2006 5:47 pm

ok, bad new first, My windscreen shattered on my face while i was getting back to dunedin from chch on the highway. i made into dunedin from timaru with no windscreen at 1am, my knees are still frozen :'(

ANYWAYS

what's the performance diffrence between T1 and T2?

i own a 82 T1 with few mods and im looking for another car at the moment

I'm thinking of getting Muppet's T2 that's on sale.

well the final question is:
will T2 make me happier than T1?

ps. Do i lose heaps of Horse Power if i have a blown head gasket?

thanks

The T2 has more top end grunt then the T1, also has larger wheels and wider track so it handles a lot better.

If you do get a T1 my suggestion is get some 185/60/13's on there pronto, makes a huge difference.

Getting a good exhaust on a T1 also makes a huge difference and gets the accel very close to a T2.

It just loses out higher up in the rev range because of the smaller turbo and the rest.

So both cars are similar performance wise, the main difference between two standard ones is the handling one  runs 155/70/12's the other 185/60/13's this is a big noticable difference.

The T2 also feels more solid at speed. But again tyres is the key here.

So my advice is if you go for a T1 get some good wheels on first before doing any perfomance modifications.

You will lose power with a blown head gasket yes.

Replacing your window is pretty basic as long as it is the rubber seal type and not the epoxied in type
