T2 Turbo Manifold

Postby turbo11 » Sun Jun 11, 2006 4:29 pm

Hey all, can anyone tell me the distance between the studs on the turbo side of the manifold prob middle of the stud to middle. I have a 2nd turbo for the car and want to know how close its going to be from bolting straight up. I dont really want to have to take turbo off just to see if it will fit yet.

Thanks

Thanks Bigelboe, i have a feeling it might go close to bolting straight up. This is one of my mazda 12A turbo's that i have in good nick and could be a great upgrade for more T2's as these turbo's are easy to get, most rotary places throw them away as they are small for a mazda. At 7.5psi they only make 165hp on a 12AT hmmm the T2 would RIP with 165hp :D .

If they are designed to flow 165Hp of air at 7.5 PSI its going to be well off its efficiency map at the sort of boost required to get that sort of power out of a T2, your going to need like 18+psi out of it probably to get that power, and your going to want to run at least 15psi to make it fun, and thats twice the factory boost.

This is the trouble we get into with finding turbos for our cars, because they need to run such high boost levels, very few factory turbo compressors are designed to work efficiently at that sort of airflow.

But hey if its a bolt up then give it a go 8)

Yeah only good thing with this turbo was it was made to produce boost at really low rpm on the 12AT so it still could be ok on the T2. I can only give it a go and see what happens. If you can get me the bolt hole size we will see very soon Haltech will be finished on the weekend.

~48mm from center to center around the bolts, so the bolt pattern is a 48mm square with a bolt at each corner, cheers to col for measuring that
