bigger front brakes for t2!

Postby scienceboy » Sun Jul 09, 2006 1:46 pm

I was just wondering if anyone has done the CRX disc brake conversion as seen on "chimera the superdog"!

I need to replace the rotors soon anyway so i thought i might as well do an upgrade a the same time

Anyone running these brakes on a t2 ??
How do they perform

worth the effort???

I was thinking brake bias could be a problem??

Any thoughts?

Cheers all

I dont think CR-x discs have the correct top hat height on the brake disc.

I have been told Si accord twin-pot callipers and rotors bolt onto the front of a T2, the 2.0 Si ones from the late 80's, but youll wanna check this out before you commit to it, that is what colza is running on the front of his 1st gen civic, Ill ask him if it looks like it would work withT2 knuckles

Hi bigelboe .do you know the car i am talking about ?,

If not. check out the web site

I think it is at http://www.daytonat.com ?..............find this site and go to the bottom of the page and click on "Chimera the superdog"........it will open a new window!

there is some t2 tech stuff on there .aswell as some stuff on bodykits for those of you looking for ideas.....and of cause the crx brake upgrade!!!

You will have to translate (japanese) but the pics tell most of the story

Hope you find it interesting!

Cheers

Those are the callipers I have on my car, EF civic ones. I think they are from the Si civic? I have the discs from an integra tho to get the correct hat height, looks like you can just use the discs from the civic on the city.

I have not noticed any real problem with brake balance, could probably do with a bit more rear bias cause the drums aren't so flash, but not a huge problem unless you are on the verge of locking up, which I do my best not to be, the brakes in my car feel like you could nearly lift the back wheels off the ground, thats how hard it can brake when you really stand on them.

think i might semi hyjack this thread if you dont mind :D
the brakes on my t2 are really s#!t/bordering on scary.
i can remember smithy having a bugger of a time trying to work out what they are because i think the discs are a fair bit smaller than a normal t2,can someone give me a few rough measurements of the discs on their t2.
cheers matty

Just out of interest has anyone else seen tkis site.

I spotted it about a year ago and just figured all you hardcore city nutters already new about it!

There is also another very good t1/t2 tech site out there that i found a year or two back (japanese) but i cant seem to find it now ,could be hard to find because i found it within a site that wasnt even honda city realated!
(came across it completely by accident)!!

I will try and dig it out and let you all know.

My bad for not saving it to my favorites!

It may be a good idea to put up some links to some of these sites because honda city info is few and far between!

Cheers and have a happy day!

Hi Guys, the dba's are $139 each for slotted and $179 for crossdrilled and slotted. This is only a standard price and will get better for more than one set.
