dash cluster light problems
dash cluster light problems
hello all
ime hoping someone can help me with a little problen ime having with the t2.
a few weeks ago the dash light behind the speedo stopped working so today i pulled it out and replaced the bulb when i pluged it all back in and tested it a strange thing happend, with the car running and the headlights off the speedo light is on but with the headlights switched on the speedo light goes off but all the rest of the dash backlights work??its like the switch is working in reverse or somthing..
i have tried my spare cluster and the same thing happens on it.
a possible cause could be..at about the same time that the speedo light went bung the right hand side headlight plug melted so i fixed the plug but only noticed the dash light problem a few days later could these be related?
cheers matty

I have had a similar problem when the headlights did funny things to the instrument lights. It ended up being the earth for the instrument lights wasnt connected. So check there isnt a black wire with an eye on it floating around behind your instruments thats ment to go under one of your bolts.
It happens because all of the headlight current goes through the headlight stalk, not too great an idea in my opinion but hey. Your plug melting may have cause a fault in the headlight switch that may be f**king with the rest of the instruments, but first check those grounds!
