Turbocab,
I had a Tridon thermostat TT240-180 in my T2 and recently changed to a TT240-192 bought at local SuperCheap auto. The -180 is 82 degrees C, and the -192 is 88 degrees C. It works great (so far...) but if you want a genuine Honda one, I will ask Kazzee to try and get one when I return to Japan in May. Hope this helps, cheers for now. Daisy in Melbourne. :D

Yeah they quite happily provided me with one at Palmy Honda. ~$30 i think, plus ~$15 for the rubber gasket.

Serious? $15 for that gasket? the guy chucked one in for free when I got mine  You can re-use them most of the time I think.

No, I lied.
I've found the receipt and it was $30 for the thermostat 19300-PB2-817,
$7.91 for the gasket 19305-PC6-000, and then GST on top so $42.65 all up.
The guy who served me was just some desk guy, he couldn't find the real parts man.
The gasket on the old thermostat was all hardened and covered in crap, I doubt I could have reused it. Since installing the new thermostat I've noticed I get up to running temp much faster than before (never really got there before) but haven't noticed an improvement in my fuel efficiency unfortunately.

Ah. I have just cracked the gasket off it and scrapped back the brown built up crud to reveal....
88 C.
Makes sense.

Ah yes that reminds me, had the thermostat installed for a little over 2 months now. Just for your information regarding the fuel efficiency side of things a load of fuel 30$ worth which takes it to pretty much full tank, I've been checking how long the tanks are lasting with the odomoter reading the KM's clicked. Ranging from 330 up to 370KM's per tank. With a little bit of boosting, and controlled driving of course :p. Lasts almost 2 weeks driving to and from work daily. Go the hondas for greenhouse effects :D

I have also noticed that it is warming up alot quicker to just below the marking on halfway, with this it seems to idle hunt alot less since its warming up quicker from a cold start. And holds a constant idle speed after driving around for 20 - 30 minutes. Good because people dont think I want to race them at every set of lights with the constant drone.. Hmm mmm Hmm mm. :)

Thats it for now. I cant exactly remember how many clicks it was doing prior to the thermostat, but its definately worth the 30 - 40 quid you pay for it.

Peace
Josh

Holy post revival!

I was searching for some info on typical fuel economy as today I measured my T2 averaged 8.9L/100km on the last tank (400+km to a tank). I actually thought it might be a bit better than that, so I'm curious to hear what other owners typically achieve??

Mods are high flowed turbo and 2.5" all the way through.

Yeah, town and freeway mix. I just chalk it up to 80's over-fueling, but would be interested to know how other get on.
