Hello All,
Firstly a big thanks to Alex for letting me pull his diff apart, I think we both learnt a lot!
It is supposedly a Mugen 2-way clutch type LSD for a Honda City ga2. I have a sneaking suspicion it was originally for another car and has been modified to fit a city (possibly T2), perhaps it was originally a ZC LSD. I am also not sure if its a mugen one or not, it looks like a cusco to me from the designs on the friciton plates. (also has no part numbers or anything anywhere).
Anyway, let the photos speak for themselves.
Halves apart.
Shims to obtain the correct itinital torque setting.
Disc spring from the side.
One of the friction plates that are coupled to the housing.
One of the friction plates that are coupled to the output spider gear.
Side on friciton plate.
Output spider inner.
Output spider outer.
Pressure ring inner.
Pressure ring outer.
Pinions.
Disc spring OD.
Disc spring spring height.
Friction plate.
Stack.
Preload.
I have more pics and high res if anyone wants them
OK so after looking at this one I have decided to go for 1.6mm thick friction plates, I am probably going to make them out of mild steel and get them nitrided or carbo-nitrided to harden up the surfaces. I will try and get some large disc spring washers to use as springs in the system.
If anyone has any heat treatment hookups then let me know!!

Thats interesting stuff there, it seems they make their diff's in a modular way. I found the parts listings for the friction plates and pressure rings and they are the same for all of the 1600cc or less fwd cars pretty much.
Alex: Maybe you can get a 1 way or 1.5 way pressure ring set for your diff.
I might also be able to buy a set of friction plates, I will find some part numbers and email an agent.

Would one of the Civic kits fit a City?
