Turbo Cabriolet

Postby Silver2 » Sat Oct 13, 2007 3:24 pm

How many Turbo cabriolets were made. How do you tell a genuine one against one that has just had a turbo motor put into it.

There was supposed to be a limited amount made (however no one has found one), however the only way to tell would be to check what it was originally imported as.

The one on Tradme i would doubt was turbo originally the seller seems to know nothing about them so i wouldn't trust his word.

You wouldn't need to mess with the wiring loom, just chuck the entire city turbo loom in, does the cab have that hole where the injector loom goes out into the right hand guard? could be something to check

Ive driven one that i would swear was factory. Was 100% stock, and had EVERTHING that a T2 had.

I reckon they made them.

It wouldn't have been very hard for them to make them, they would have had all the parts sitting there.

In saying that, it wouldn't have been very hard to make one (from a normal cab) that looked completely factory with all the parts available.

Are there any bits of the engine bay or anything that are turbo only and not cab? Turbocab?

good to see your still hanging around boostboy! One of the few old boys left :P

I have a feeling the one on TM may have been imported as a turbo, because cert was never mentioned in the auction and it said they never had trouble getting warrants so I assume it will have turbo written on the rego card.

Could do a VINZ check on that one, would be interesting to see what it was imported as, costs $25 tho :/

from what i could remember about my cab everything was the same as the t2 only the wiring under the dash had been cut at some point and poorly joined back together.
and mine was still regestered as a non turbo when i had it.
