semi-auto trans Fluid check procedure ?

Hi folks. My flatmate just bought a quite nice 1984 City (Jap imported in 1991) with Hondamatic. (Naturally aspirated only)

It seems to run fine on the flat here in Chch (haven't had the chance to try any hills yet)

I see it has a little dipstick at the bottom right of the engine bay in the area of the transmission which logic suggests is the transmission oil dipstick

Also right next to the dipstick, just posterior to it, is a rubber bung which when slipped off its raised boss, reveals another, somewhat smaller opening

Now the usual method for other cars autos I'm familiar with (level ground, warmed up, move shifter through all positions, then check level while engine idling in "N" and add fluid as required *VIA* the dipstick hole)

QUESTION ONE.....is it the same procedure for Hondamatics ?

QUESTION TWO .....what grade of auto trans fluid to use ? (Dexron 2/3/4 ? or a non-Dexron different one ?)

QUESTION THREE.....so what's with the rubber bung covering the hole that's next to the trans dipstick then ?

Please give me the benefit of your collected wisdom
