Or you could build a d13b with a d15b sohc vtec head.
I built one in my EG. Made 45WKW with around 7:1 compression.

d13b block weighted 10kgs less then the d15b.

More work:

Wheel arch pre and post sealing. Got one coat of brush on underseal on, then I ran out, so second coat was spray on.

Engine bay.

Sills, that edge looks more wobbly in this image than it does in real life.

Over this weekend I've put the steering and suspension back in, and test hung all the panels.

I'll probably put the wheels on on Tuesday, then I can roll it outside and get a better look at it.

This is also about as far as it's going to progress for the next while. I'm going overseas to do some travelling for two or three years, so she's going to be packed up and put into storage very shortly.

What this means is that I now have a whole lot of parts for sale, I've gone through and sorted out the bits I'm planning to use, the rest is going to be sold, given away, or chucked in the rubbish. I'll put a post in sale/wanted with a list of all the parts.

Hi Guys, it's been a while, but it's good to see so many of you seem to still be here.

I'm back in NZ now, but unfortunately have bought a house that doesn't have any space to work on the car. The house is a bit of a project anyway, and so it is with much regret that I think it's time to part with my wee City.

She's been in a sealed shipping container on a farm for the past 6 years and seems to be in excellent condition. I haven’t kept the engine or gearbox as my plan was to install a D16, and the seats had to go because of the rollcage, and there's no carpet or roof lining... but I’m pretty sure all the other original parts are there. All the loose nuts and bolts are even in little labelled plastic bags.

The registration is still current, but has been on hold since I started this whole process about 10 years ago. The roll cage was built by Craig Howser in Hamilton and homologated with Mortorsport NZ.

This would be an awesome project car to pick up, and I’d love for someone from within this community to keep it going.

Here it is out of the container. The brown stains near the bottom of the door are from the fish oil I sprayed into all the rust prone voids when I put it into storage. They rub off.

Other side

Interior with stuff.

More stuff.

These seats aren't fancy and don't make any claims about being certified for motorsport, but they are what the new mounting points are based on.

Image

Lots of the bits have been wrapped in plastic too.

Image

Still shiny.

So here it is. Have a read back through this thread to see the history of this build process up to this stage. If you think you might be interested in continuing this project let me know. I think I spent about 5K on the cage and rust repairs, but I'm not expecting to recoup very much of that.

I'll put it up in the for sale section too, and if no one wants it I guess it's Trademe.

It's more important to me that that this gets picked up by someone who cares about Citys than I get top dollar, so you might not have to look too deeply into your bank...

I'm planning to put it on Trademe this weekend if no one here wants it.

There's 33 watchers already and it's been less than 24 hours, I'm pretty happy with that.

Thats a decent price for a rolling body you got, hope the new owner makes them-self known on here :)

They seem pretty enthusiastic, already have an n/a city that's got a bit too much rust in it. I'll steer them this way.
