heater and air con

I was connecting a heater hose back to where it should be, in the engine bay, and took out the dash to clean/check out for anything loose/ not in place,,

I noticed my heater only works when its blowing out thu my feet and to the windscreen?
and when i change the direction towords my face theres no hot air?

is this normal?

I still have to do some work for the aircon so I dont know yet, but for those of you have the a/c still working,, is the a/c directional too?

My heater would only blow on my feet and windscreen, so I'd assume that was normal.
