Mag Wheel Sizes/Offsets

Postby Hyperblade » Mon Jan 17, 2011 2:09 pm

I'm looking at some new mags for my T2.

Having a read through all the posts there seems to be a lot of confusion about what fits and what doesn't.

Any answers from this thread are going to go into the infobase.

For reference the standard T2 mags are 13x5 +?? (anyone knows the offset would be greatly appreciated).

My question is will 14x6 +40 mags fit on a T2?

Also what would be good is if people could post up what mags they are running on their cars both T1/T2 with with no rubbing.

To kick this off my current mags are

13x5.5 +35 with 185/60/13's

They don't rub, however the car doesn't handle that well with them, tends to roll a bit and be skittish.

not sure if you can put the handling down to wheel / tire choice

185 60s shouldnt have too much roll,

I have 13x5.5 + 38 offset with huge profile tires and it still handles pretty good with the KYB shocks

You can probably go down to +20-25 offset to fill out the guards without rubbing but good luck finding 4x100s with low offset.

agreed, ide be blaming body roll on shitty suspension before tyres.

Thanks for posting up your specs.

The roll is probably from either under inflated tyres or old suspension.

However wheels play a huge part in handling, maybe a better word to use would have been unpredictable for my car, and i believe thats only down to the mags, i've had stock rims with same tyres on and it felt a lot more predictable/planted.

I've seen posts (bigleboe/colza) mentioning that we could run 15inch mags on a T2,

15x6.5 195/50/15

but they didn't know the offset that would work.

Is anyone running 15's here?

Tyres are proving difficult to get for 13/14" these days.

Iv got 15's on my T2
185/50/15
This about 40mm gap between the shock and the tires. Unsure of the width of the rim since its not mine but looks to be 6inch.

And iv got some volk 15inch superfine rims ill be sticking on when I can afford some decent tires. 15X6.5 so may need to get some 9mm spacers.

Do you know what offset the rims are?

The volks are +37 offset ill have to ask the original owner of the 15s that are on it now what offset they are.

Can confirm the volks fit. +37 offset 195/50/15 But will be getting smaller tires at some stage since the ones are quite bald.

spacers for the rear would be a good idea.

I was more meaning stock cars, not super awesome T2R's :P

No ones going to get close to that size without serious work!

What would be really good is to find out what offset 15x6 need to be to fit on, as its much easier to get rims/tyres in that size.

That way theres no mucking around with spacers etc can just bolt straight on.
