Postby Bulldogbruno » Tue Aug 14, 2012 3:33 pm

Hi guys. I have a 1984 VF City Hatchback with ER engine, just wondering if someone knows where the engine number is stamped on the motor. Regards Bruno

I had a brief look over mine a while ago and found a number just under the spark plugs... but it didn't say anything like er on it... said something like 'pg' number number number. Not sure if that's the number, or if number for something else, or not actually turbo1 motor :|

Hi. No, that's not the number, i have already spotted that. My motor code starts with ER1. I have the motor number stamped on i.d plate mounted to door pillar, but i can't find it anywhere on the motor. Regards Bruno

One of those arrows points to the gearbox number (on the gearbox) one points to the engine number.

The other 3 point to body tags you have probably already seen.

Thanks James! Yes i found it! It doesn't match the body tag so must have had a engine change at some stage. A Vic Roads check still shows the previous engine number so not sure what happens when i re-register. Thanks to all who have answered my question.

Well if you can't find the engine number chances the guy checking it will give up fairly quickly and just sign it off
