BOV

Postby ANTHRAXXX » Fri Aug 24, 2012 1:32 pm

Sooo I always assumed my current T2 had a BOV, previous owner has fitted a seperate boost gauge, & has run an extra hose from the base of the standard pipe coming off the turbo. This hose connects up to a small valve looking thing, about the size of a spark plug, which just sits in the engine bay. When driving the car makes what I always thought was a typical bov type sound, so now wondering if that noise is in fact the Turbo fan getting thrashed, or if the wastegate control thing is buggered...?

Pic of valve thing..with peice of foam stuck on one end..

If fitting a BOV, it should go in the middle of the pipe in the middle of this pic yeah? top of engine to intercooler..

Best place for the turbo is to have the BOV as close to the TB as possible.
Altho I personally always stick them before the inter cooler since its better to dump the hot air then have spent all that time cooling it just for it to be dumped.

From the picture, I am pretty sure it isn't bov.

When I come back to Perth next, we can meet up.

Basically u can put any bov in any turbo car, u just need to custom make a T pipe on your intake side Of turbo, prefer as close to throttle body as possible.
