That is characteristic of failing valve stem seals, which may be due to the valve guides being worn out. Should still be able to get hold of stem seals without trouble, and the guides are probably a generic part.
The reason is happens is that when the engine is off, oil slowly leaks down the valves and collects in the ports. It takes a little while to burn it off.
Another way to test it is to find a big hill (might hard in Aus hah!) and engine brake down it in 2nd, then hit the throttle. If the valve guide seals are stuffed, the vacuum will suck oil down past the seals, and it will blow a cloud of smoke when you get back on the gas, which is exactly what my Prelude does hah.
If its not too bad you can just live with it, just keep a close eye on your oil levels.

Would of thought it would be blue smoke if its steam seals.
Thats how a few of my engines were with valve steam seal problems.
White smoke is normally coolant or misture from hole in exhaust allowing it to gather in the muffler.
So if you have a exhaust leak it could be that. And may be worth giving it a leak down test and checking the radiator for bubbles and coolant loss.
