Vin number Confusion.

hey guys. i have been trying to decode my vin number on my Turbo 2.
On the compliance plate it says the car is an "87 Cosmo City Cabriolet" but its not a convertible, it has all the Bull dog fenders and kit and has the Turbo 2 EFI intercooled engine and all the suspension.
the bit that has be confused is that the chassis number on the fire wall Say AA instead of FA for the turbo 2. with some googling, i found that AA could mean its actually an 84-85 turbo 2 but really hard to find anything solid.
