[Question] About silicone joiners size

Postby Logan nzl » Wed Oct 26, 2016 10:22 am

Hey all,

Just in the process of installing a intercooler on my T1 and need to buy my silicone joiners.

I've brought a length of 2" (50mm) aluminium piping and obviously need two reducer silicone joints; one coming off the turbo and the other off the intake. They measure up to 35mm but ebay only sells 38mm to 50mm reducers. (3mm too large).

My question is does anyone know if 38mm joiners will still be able to fit airtight on the intake and turbo? or is this too larger gap to try and squeeze shut?

Hope someone has been in this situation and know what to buy,

cheers,

-Logan.

I'm just speculating but I think the larger connector should tighten down OK onto the turbo outlet. I think on my setup there is a short length of the stock outlet pipe going to a steel pipe fitting to make it to 2" for the rest of the piping.
