thinkin of buyin

Postby Smithy » Tue Jan 07, 2003 10:01 pm

So what sort of prices do City Turbo's go for?

I know someonw whos sellin one, which hes been sellin (not advertised) for two / three years!
not sure what all CityT's are like but its got Recaro seats, Momo's etc...
I fell in love with it when i first saw it two years ago...

Its just a cute little beast...perfect white paint , the wheel flares....totally tidy...!!

but its advertised at....7500!!!
thats seems a little extreme to me...considering their age????

Im in Brisbane Australia.....
whats the goin prices for a tidy City T....????

thanks   SIMON....

Hi Simon,

Yeah, that does seem a bit much!  ???
In NZ they are currently going for around $1000 - 1500.
When I got my first one, I paid $6990. It was really tidy and went well. The one I got a few months back was only $1300 and was pretty rough with an extra $700 needed in repairs (stuck wastegate and stuffed clutch).

I think even for a tidy one $3000 would be about right.
One of the guys over there may have a different idea, but that's where I'd be looking.

Are you going to do any mods to it after you get it?

Good luck,

Keep in mind that they are far more common in NZ though so they are worth a bit more here in aus.

Theres one in Brisbane at Wilston for sale for $1500 (very negotiable) - body has some damage and rust, engine - well, the seller can't remember when the last service was - a bit smoky, interior in shocking condition. I imagine she might let it go for 1000 ish but it requires a fair bit of work to get it to safety certificate stage, much less up to scratch.

Check out the Trading post for this and another $495 wreck.

Andrei.  :)

The guy who has it trades in rareish cars if you know what i mean.. he doesn't really advertise and its just like a hobby to him...

I mean my car is worth more than that!!  (the prices you suggest....)
so I might head up there and see what he knows...I think its the only car thats hes had there for that long...

my cars worth 4-5 i suppose to the right person so id really like a swap...
(mines a morris minor, Nissan 1400, and 4spd, Hillman Disks, Galant drums, jaguar coilovers grafted to back, telescopic dampeners on the front, sway bar too. CD player, Kicker speakers, new upholstery seats etc.)

Id swap it for the City Turbo any day....I mean I love my morris....but need a change...and I 've always fancied a city turbo..

you guys have any faults with them??
what about spare parts..any old supercheapauto carry like disk pads etc?   what about the vacumn advance thingys?? aNY PARTS HARD TO TRACK DOWN??

thanks again??     SIMON!

So far so good..

Dont spend over 3 grant for a city turbo 2 .. its value nowadays are around 1500 to 2000.

Good luck..
