Ive been getting qoutes lately.  For full comp on an agreed value of $5000 ive been quoted $2200 plus $3000 excess!  For 3rd party property its around $400, through shannons and just car insurance.

None of the major companies (AAMI, suncorp, etc) will touch it as it an import (not a city 3D)....
most other specialist firms never ring back...
Shannons need a classic car insured with them first...
one company refused me as i had a speeding ticket (72 in a sixty, over StoryBridge, sunday morn....!!) TWO years ago...not like i was drink driving....

Any way current best option is $717 per yer, Just Cars insurance.....but they will only insure the car for $3500...

So im wondering wether to bother....I've got a rating One, over 25 (on sunday), ....b@stards.
oh well....

Might see if my dads got insurance with Shannons for his Escort.....Or get him to ring just Cars and have me as a second driver.....see if its cheaper that way....

Or not bother and spend the 700bucks on a decent alarm/immobiliser thing....

????

none of the major insurance companies would touch me with my turbo 2 either. just because i am a P plater. i have a completely clean driving record and they didnt even hesitate to say no.
just cars insurance would probs be the best bet for car insurance if you have a turbo. i just got my city insured with them with third party fire and theft for $650 a year. pretty good i reckon. and if i get an alarm and immobiliser my premium will go even lower.  ;D ;D ;D

I pay about $18 per month.  I just have third party.  After all i bought the T1 for $100 so if i crash it i push it off a cliff and buy another one ;)  :P

OK, Here's where you all call me rude names.....
Did some computerwork for an insurance broker a while back. I must have done well because they then did some quotes;

T3 - In it's current state, ie garaged but not moving and lots of expensive bits in it. Full cover for $12,000.00
Premium $ 248 a year

T2 - Third party, Fire, Theft for $2,000.00
Premium $164 a year

At the mo' Im with Just CARs, will only insure me for
$3500, fully comp, cost me $750.

Got a quote from someone else, cant remember name though,,poo...$400 year same $3500 but will evaluate car with mods etc and determine a new pricefor value...
bet that puts the price up too though.

For a '80 Civic with a T2 engine insured in my dads name with me (under 25 male one previous claim) as a listed driver was $290 a year for third party with unlimited modifications as long as i old them about it. That was with National Auto Club in NZ ;D Good enough for me!

I know it's not a turbo but I've got my RX7 insured (3rd party property) for about $190 and it's been modified (13B rather than 12A, exhaust, suspension) I went through an insurance broker and just gave them all the details of the car.. then I get back the bill..  I've been told that this is VERY VERY VERY cheap for someone my age. (20), I think it's with suncorp.  Maybe I was just lucky!
