Rally City T2 : ECUs & boost control

Postby Mark_Moddejongen » Thu May 15, 2003 1:48 pm

Hello Everyone

I am currently rebuilding a Honda City T2 rally car.
It's Adrian Taylors old car, and was last used by the 'Extreme Driving Experience' school in Cessnock. Apparently it used to go pretty hard, and kept up with the early Evo Lancers.

Its is stripped out, and is having the rollcage welded in. Can post pictures if anyone is interested.

I'll need to run high boost to be competitive, and will probably need an aftermarket computer.

Has anyone fitted an Autronics (or similar) ?

What about an electronic boost controller ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mark Moddejongen

Hi Mark,

Great to catch up again! How's that rebuild going then?
I'm going to go for a MicroTech MTX8. This has built in ignitors and should run a direct fire system really well.
Boostboy (Glenn) may have some good ideas on boost controllers.

Should be a real beast when it's done!!  ;D

you wont really get more power with just changing the ECU.
BUT if youve done some good modifications that allow you to get more power from remapping the fuel/ignition etc then its VERY good.

Also the fact is you can completely unplug the factory computer, thus removing any fuel/speed/boost cuts, and can set them at whatever level you see fit.
With a city I would imagine the gains could be great, as you can get rid of a HEAP of the vacum lines and factory map sensors etc...
would make life so much simpler!

There made here in NZ, cost around $900 for the basic one..
www.link-electro.co.nz is the site.

Cheers

Has anyone had any luck with fitting any aftermarket computer to their T2 engine. I am still halfway through my conversion to my gen1 civic and was looking at running a MTX8 computer. Is there any computers that run the CVCC set up???

mrboom,

I think the MTX8 will run the CVCC as it can handle piggyback injectors. Sorting out injector duty cycle and timing will be the tricky bit though! Lot's of trial and error. You'll probably find nobody else has done it either. The bummer about "boldly going where no man...etc" eh!
