Heavy duty clutch?

Hi i am looking for heavy duty clucth kit for my city turbo. Anyone can recommend me where to get it from?

If you are in New Zealand then clutchworks in Christchurch is probably your best bet.

hey arnold i kno one place that might be able to help go to goodyear auto, tyre and brake service on albany hwy vick park, beside the holden dealership. ask for shane and see if he can help you, might be able too but cant be shure hard to find parts for them. just say i sent you as he is my uncle.

I will try kenny. However i wanna know the price of it. or anyone have second hand can let go? i can consider buying it. I want to build it better cause wanna go try quarter mile again this time. Hehe

does any body have the part number and brand for a brass button clutch for a turbo2,
as want one for my t2 clutch is stuffed. in 3rd/4th gear all motor wants to do is rev with out going any where, tryed to addjust it but made it worse.

any help will be cool

Had a good look for clutch stuff for my rebuild. Ended being a better option to get the original plate Kevlar lined! I was told by clutch specialists in Auckland and Chch that there wasn't much you could do to adapt or remodel the City unit. Usually pivot points can be relocated, but apparently not on the City. I guess there would be a brass unit made for something else that could be made to fit, but could be a mission to find it!
Mine had the heavy duty unit from Repco originally.
Should work OK.
I've also taken out that nasty spring/cam arrangement from the pedal box that totally removes any feel of when it starts to engage.
Who likes this "feature" designed to make it easier to hold the pedal in?

I have a brand new exedy extreme HD clutch kit here for a T2.  It doesnt fit my T1 so ive got to take it back.  I paid near cost price for it at $300 so if you are quick you can have it for what i paid for it otherwise ill take it back.

Ok here is my experience of the last week.  I ordered an exedy HD clutch which i thought would be ok.  It was for a late model city and was the same part number as the civic 1500 etc.  Got it home and pulled the engine and box out of my city, spit the two and had a look at the clutch assembly.  It was different, the flywheel on my T1 has a 20mm recess where as the clutch i had was for a 2mm recess flywheel which i have later found is what the T2 has.  Anyway, I took the clutch back and looked through the book and found the one i needed with the recess etc.  Ring excedy up and they cant do that model clutch in a heavy duty.  Great.  So i thought i could just use a late model 2mm recess flywheel.  Got one of those and it bolted to my crank ok.  Realised that the spigot bearing was a different size but that could be machined to suit and then i measured the position of the ring gear in reelation to the crank face.  The new flywheel was 15mm further away meaning that the starter wouldnt engage at all.  As i dont particuarly like push starting cars, i worked out that i could do a bit more machining to the starter and the gearbox housing in order to bring the starter 15mm closer to the ring gear.  Everything was ok, i thought ill start on that tomorrow so i put the two flywheels down next to each other on the ground and then i noticed something, the new one was bigger in diameter! >:( that means that NOTHING would work, it was even too big for the gearbox to fit over it.  Back went the clutch today and on order is a plain old normal duty item  :(
So, moral of the story, if you have a T2, you can get a heavy duty clutch easy enough.  If you have a T1, forget a HD clutch.  T2s have a bigger flywheel and a different gearbox.

how many bolts hold your pressure plate on?
As i have a clutch that has 8 bolts insted of 6 like my t2, want to find out if it is for a t1 as i need one for my t1. As motor did not have one on it when i bought it.

Yo Qiklude,
The Repco clutch seemed fine. Handled 13psi boost without slipping. Don't recall the original price, but it wasn't too bad.
The spring on the pedal box helps to hold the clutch pedal down when you push it. Great for people with weak leg muscles, but crap for feeling when the clutch engages. There's a little cam that flips the spring mount around. This cam also flips the spring back when the clutch comes back up. You can feel when it changes from pushing down to pushing up. I grew to really hate the sodding thing!!  >:(
The pedal box became pretty stuffed on mine, so I've sourced a new one and strenghtened it. The spring thingy wasn't on this one, cool, it saved me from having to remove it!! ;D

I had always thought that the cam arrangement was so that it kicked back as you engaged so you can change faster...

My city hasnt really been driven yet, but I like the arrangement at the moment. Maybe I will get sick of it, we shall see.
