advantades and disadvantages of cvcc

I know the comp ratio of the stock ER non turbo engine is 10-10.3:1. does cvcc help combat detonation etc..

with out cvcc would this engine be able to run so high a CR with only basic engine management such as carb...

I really like how responsive the std ER non turbo motor is off the line....its got heaps of low down torque...probably due to its small ports and high comp..

but this motor doesnt exactly rev out that well
