Re: Computer fault code of 3 & 2
Best of my knowledge is lamps 2 & 3 mean TW sensor problem, either disconnected or open circuit in the wiring. Symptoms would be Difficult to start when cold and idle speed too high when warming up. Henry

Re: Diagnosing failure to start on run up of re-bu
Forgot to mention, No 1 on mine (T11) is just in front of the right hand cap hold down clip when viewed from the front. Did you have it running in that car before the rebuild? Henry

Re: Diagnosing failure to start on run up of re-bu
Set No 1 piston at TDC compression stroke, TDC mark on flywheel will be visible through timing hole, timing mark on front of pulley (take top plastic cover off) should line up with arrow on head. This means the valve timing is right. Lift the distributor out, Align the index marks on the distributor...

Re: whats this vacumn hose 4?
Cab Fan, you will find an idle speed adjusting screw on the drivers side end of the throttle shaft, phillips head with a cup type surround on the head, which points foreward. you should be able to wind this in a bit and keep it idling. Would suggest you then check the timing, and if you finish up w...

Re: whats this vacumn hose 4?
There seems to be few that are having problems with the vac advance so will try to put it into perspective for you. There are two spark advance systems, centrifugal and vacuum. The centrifugal is a mechanical system in the lower part of the distributor that works with engine revs and advances the ce...

Re: whats this vacumn hose 4?
Fuel pressure can be checked by attaching a gauge to the top of the fuel filter, will take a workshop about 5 minutes. Mine did the old up and down idle thing, I think when the diaphram goes it upsets the mixture. You can adjust something to fix that, will take a photo tomorrow to show you where if ...

Digital speedo and clock normally dim when you turn the lights on, sounds like it's something in this circuit if they still work during the day. Henry

Re: Vaccume advance unit - desperate!!
Hey, found it!! It was a Toyota Hilux with a 22 R1 engine of 2.4 litres. I'm not saying this is a suitable replacement at this stage because I have not been able to check it yet, but it am saying that it looks the same, the fitting sleeve looks the same size, and it is definately worth checking o...

Re: Vaccume advance unit - desperate!!
DR86, sounds like you have more than a vac canister problem. I had mine re-built by a mob in Melbourne and ran without it for over a week. Didn't do any of the things you are talking about. In fact, with normal driving, didn't miss it a bit. You still have your centrifugal advance working so you wil...
