Re: FS: Turbo 2 Convertable - Brisbane

And whats with the safety cert? I've been told I've got to have mine certified for the extra power after the engine swap. Does the same thing have to happen in Oz? Maybe it has had a turbo dropped in there?

tony, i think in australia if the engine was an option for the car or was in another model etc, it can be put in as long as you change brakes etc as well. dont quote me on that though im really not sure

Re: FS: Turbo 2 Convertable - Brisbane
I went and had a look at this car before I bought my current car (unfortunately not a City TII), anyway it's very nice inside and out although there's a few probs with the motor.. looks like it's got a TI motor in there and it's got a mod plate for the motor too... at least I think that's what that blue plate was!!
Anyways she was asking $4900 for it, but after taking it for a drive.. (couldn't feel it boosting at all very sluggish right through the rev range) I think it's in need of some engine attention.
aside from that the car itself is pretty nice.

Hey Fader
Sounds like thats the same deal I had with mine. I checked out the disc sizes tho and the disks on the cabriolet are bigger than those on the T1 so no point in swapping them but I did swap the sway bars and that has made it a lot better than what it was. The suspension still needs a bit of work tho to make it handle properly.
Cheers

Re: FS: Turbo 2 Convertable - Brisbane
Hi all,
This car is a Honda City Cabriolet, with a T2 front bumper and bonnet (for looks). Whether it's got a turbo, who knows...but if it does, and it's come from a T2, then it's what mine has.
Cabriolet was made later than T2...but having experience with the Cabriolet, i'd rather the Hard-Top!
Cheers,
Luke.

Hi Tony,
Well...the simple fact is that a 1988 soft-top DOES need replacing eventually. And because there are nearly NONE in good condition left, you have to find a way to replace the soft-top without it costing more than the whole car is worth.
Me, i've got 3 soft-tops. 2 in good nick and 1 bad. I'd prefer a T2 because if the roof rusts, you weld up a new piece. When some f*cker tires to steal your car, and slashes the soft-top (but cannot get in!) leaves you with a destroyed soft-top on a great car, and you can't get the thing replaced...then you'll understand
Cheers,
Luke.
