eb engine bay dimensions
hey fellaz as the title says does anybody have or can they measure up the dimensions of an eb series engine bay including total lenght, width(top and bottom) distance(roughly) from cvs to front and firewall and total available hieght from the bottom cross member to the bonnet line.... i have little bit of a drastic idea welling ::) and i just want some numbers to compare... cheers
Re: eb engine bay dimensions
width - 0 (rounded to nearest meter)
length - 0 (rounded to nearest meter)
height - 0 (rounded to nearest meter)
what ya planning? if its a honda engine i can probably tell you if its been done before.

Re: eb engine bay dimensions
just let me think about it for a while...... see if its possible or not worth it at all.... a
Re: eb engine bay dimensions
Ill go through all the ones i can think of, and then you can get an idea from the size of those engines.
EL/EK - bolt in
1500/1600 SOHC D series - fits with front crossmember mods
1600 DOHC ZC - fits with (major?) crossmember mods
B16/B18 has been done. Will not pass certification in Aus/NZ due to lack of chassis rails afterwards
HEMI V8 - tube front end, one-piece flip front ( i have photo ;D)
Heard rumour of a 20B powered RWD drag car. Dont know if it happened or not.
ANYTHING is possible, its just a matter of how much cash you have :-/

Re: eb engine bay dimensions
no... none of them..... but i will say its a longatudally(?) mounted fwd
Re: eb engine bay dimensions
Meaning either the Legend V6 or the 5-cyl Audi? engine.
I was considering a RWD Turbo Legend V6 for a while, but have since passed that off for a later time when i have more money/experience/space etc etc
Am now looking at Turbo ZC.
The problem with an EB engine bay is it is CHRONICLY short. There is very very VERY little space to play with. For an interesting large capacity engine swap, an EN would be a much better option given its significantly larger enginebay and slightly large track.

Re: eb engine bay dimensions
That is f***ing awsome.
There's also a rotary shop in capallaba, Brisbane with a 13bpp mounted behind the passanger seat, with full lada running gear. He said it was a hillclimb car

Re: eb engine bay dimensions
what!?... no its a...... oh, nah im looking at a c32a 235hp v6 but then im wondering if its even worthwhile putting so much power in a 650kg fwd car, cos no doubt im gonna get shitloads of wheelspin... but then there are a few fwds with more power than this.. the reason i thought of the c32a is because it keeps an even weight distribution in the front of the car.... its all symetrical.. the only major mods i can think of if it will all fit is enlarging the gearbox tunnel to fit the box and maybe some over extending of the nose cone besides engine mounts etc... would be a six speeder by the way ;D
Re: eb engine bay dimensions
There are some 1st gen civics with a longer front end so if your going to go threw with this try to find one of these. I've only seen them at the wreckers. they do look a little funny though.
My previous ride was a hotted up Renault Fuego. Another advantage is that the drive shafts are the same length so you hardly feel any torque steer.
