Hello Turbocab,
In all probability it could be the valve stem seals. First get some new seals. Local feed back is that they may not be a stock item anymore. Do you have the part numbers?
Avoid taking the head off. Taking the head off is tedious, expensive and gives you the chance to break lots more things, including skin.
Do you have a working relationship with any mechanics? Where are you actually? In Brisbane, Sydney ot Melbourne, join the local Honda Club and that'll help you get access to either a member with a full workshop, or a club reccomended mechanic.
The mechanic can do the tricky bit. You can do the bits like taking off those things that get in the way, like cam cover, rocker gear. The mechanic can then hook up their air compressor, compress the valve springs and replace those seals. Than you put the bits back on that you took off. And it's their fault if they drop a valve down a cylinder. The valves can also be held up using the old pushing the string in through the plug hole.
If you're in Adelaide there's at least one lad who has doen this job all himself.
Now go forth and order those seals.
good luck,
Campbell
