Pretty pleased with the fit and finish. Rears are basically good to go, and fronts just need spring seats.

They are a lot tougher cert wise now days you have one of those old skool certs from back in the day right?

A mate of mine had to cert with 15x7s cause they wouldn't let him through with 15x8.5 front and 15x9.5 rear as the tires were too stretched AND you cant buy a tire in NZ that's wide enough to pass their strict no stretching BS lol.

So you still need a test car or are you set?

I know dobsons was really strict with anything to do with suspension and brakes. Hildreds is a bit more laxed as long as stuff is safe he will pass it or maybe thats just on stuff for me.

Had a mate with the same problem with 17X10 rim at dobsons they wouldnt let him pass because a small amount of stretch but he passed at hildreds.

The toughness is all dependent. I have normal current certs for both my cars. The guy who gave the civic one was a dick, the guy who did the prelude one was cool, it definitely helps being an engineer and knowing what I am talking about tho.

I would count those as unusual wheel and tyre Fitment, I'm not surprised they wanted him to get cert. My main complaint about cert is the price, I think it's quite artificially inflated.

I'm not sure about the test car, I don't really have an opportunity to get down to NP, I'm going back to the USA next week. I'm thinking this stage I might just send the struts to Glen to try, should only cost $50 to post to aus.

G'day James... Please clarify something for me :?
I couldn't help but notice in your sweet as pics! that you seem to have missed the little notch which is machined in the lower side wall of the strut tube.
(For the bolt to clamp around the strut, holing the hub assembly/stub axle in place... like factory struts have an indent).
Or is this not shown in the photos posted :oops:
Not being picky, as I'm well impressed with your work... Maybe an oversight by you or me ? that's all.

That cutout wouldn't have been possible to machine on the CNC lathe so its going to be added manually at a later date (probably this weekend), I might look at making a jig to do it on the drill press so I can do a tidy job of it.

Haha nice work Matt.

I have ordered another set of strut inserts, I will be picking them up in the USA this week, but I'm not back until July, so there will be a bit of a pause in the development of this gear.

When I get back, I will get a set to someone with a city so I can see if this system is going to work and offer good performance. If all is well then I will do a bulk order of strut inserts, and bring them back in a container.

I'm back in NZ now, and the first test set is off at the Anodisers.

Will get this set together and sent off to ProT to test within the next month. Basically I just have to screw them together, fill with oil, and make two locking nuts for the spring seats.
