Hi Guys, it's been a while, but it's good to see so many of you seem to still be here.
I'm back in NZ now, but unfortunately have bought a house that doesn't have any space to work on the car. The house is a bit of a project anyway, and so it is with much regret that I think it's time to part with my wee City.
She's been in a sealed shipping container on a farm for the past 6 years and seems to be in excellent condition. I haven’t kept the engine or gearbox as my plan was to install a D16, and the seats had to go because of the rollcage, and there's no carpet or roof lining... but I’m pretty sure all the other original parts are there. All the loose nuts and bolts are even in little labelled plastic bags.
The registration is still current, but has been on hold since I started this whole process about 10 years ago. The roll cage was built by Craig Howser in Hamilton and homologated with Mortorsport NZ.
This would be an awesome project car to pick up, and I’d love for someone from within this community to keep it going.
Here it is out of the container. The brown stains near the bottom of the door are from the fish oil I sprayed into all the rust prone voids when I put it into storage. They rub off.
Other side
Interior with stuff.
More stuff.
These seats aren't fancy and don't make any claims about being certified for motorsport, but they are what the new mounting points are based on.
Lots of the bits have been wrapped in plastic too.
Still shiny.
So here it is. Have a read back through this thread to see the history of this build process up to this stage. If you think you might be interested in continuing this project let me know. I think I spent about 5K on the cage and rust repairs, but I'm not expecting to recoup very much of that.
I'll put it up in the for sale section too, and if no one wants it I guess it's Trademe.
