City 2 Vs Skyline

Postby CITY_SLICKER » Thu May 08, 2003 11:05 pm

hey how you all going. this is my first post so be gentle.
ive just bought a Honda City Turbo 2 for 4 grand and let me just say that so far it is bloody awesome.

The last owner of my city did a fair few modifications to the car. its got a turbosmart cold air induction system, K&N pod filter, ehaust and blow off valve. im thinking of doin a few mods myself like an even bigger exhaust and probs mags and stereo.
i am curious tho, i really really love Nissan Skylines. i know i wouldnt have a chance against an R33 or R32. but i was just wondering if any of you guys might know if i would have a pretty good chance against an R31 skyline (those boxy ones from the 80's with the RB30E engine).
any thoughts would help.

thanx.

Hey City_Slicker,

Welcome to the site!
Sounds like an excellent T2 you've got there!  ;D
Dragging a Skyline comes down to the driver as well.
A standard Skyline would be similar in power to weight, but they would get you on top speed eventually.  :-[
As Pro-T says, get out on the streets and line one up.
You'll at least give them a big fright!!  ;)

If you want to blow away a skyline then do this ;)

Get a bigger fuel pump, injectors, fuel cut defender, boost controller.  Wind that puppy up to 20+ pounds and you should eat them for breakfast.

i dont think you would have to much trouble with a stock skyline... as in a gtst or whatever they are..

i have a friend with one, and i was pretty un-impressed with it, though he claims it was 'running like shite'

they seem to be heavy, and low geared... thats my opionion.

Welcome to the site!
I'm still elarning to drive and I was at the stop lights and a GSTS Skyline(the new ones) pulled up next to me so as a joke I reved and reved back and the race was on, it wasn't much of a strip as the road narrowed about 200m down the road but as soon as the light was green we teared off and I beat the skyline to the single lane with alot of room to spare so yea, just be real careful who you choose to race and where you do it. but it can be done!
I have a T2 and it's pretty close to stock, no major mods just a big bore and new mags with wide tyres.

pardon my ignorance.. but are you talking about a free flowing exhaust?..  or larger fuel lines or something?

Cheers

you got it, larger exhaust.
for some reason a lot of places call it a big bore system.

Just out of interest, aren't "Big Bores" suposed to be bolt on larger exhaust upgrades for cars. The ones you buy as a whole unit ie. extractor, all pipe bent up and welded, and of course the "big shiny muf". As oposed to buying it all seperate and making it yourself?

hmm dont know, will ask the big bore shop :)
(there good friends of mine)

As for what the city can scare... hmm no idea, my citys are either dead, slow, or in process of striping and painting (been doing that today)
