Lowering

Give me lowering solutions now or i make you look like this!!!!   :-X

Quite seriously.  Someone with a lowered city actually get their arse into gear, get under their car and read the numbers off their shocks.

Post them up here with the Brand & model number.

I was going to re-valve the std ones, but if any other ideas look worthwhile, I may have to re-consider.

our old city was lowered by pedders, they had to modify some springs i think were for a civic of the same year ish...

shocks were never touched!

id be pretty suprised if there is aftermarket ones available

There's not...  And you will find that the only way to lower the rear with just springs and not modifying the shocks is to get a lower spring rate...  However this is dangerious and changes the handling characteristics of the car badly.  What i'm actually after is someone who has found shocks designed for other cars that fit in city's, shorter preferably.

Look at getting your springs retensioned this is a cost-effective + safe way of adjustin ride hieght.

I bought another whole set of T2 springs and got them re-tensioned for $80 a pair.
Also got my shocks re-manufactured.

Seems :-/ all GOOOOD so far

But I think I went to low for that spring-rate::)
But feels and handles alot better

Hehehe, I can get Gabriel and KYB replacement shocks for my CIVIC, but no, all your poor city owners have to revalve and retension...sigh

Depends   :-/

Lowered Springs - (King Springs) usually have a Higher spring rate = Harder stiffer ride - compinsating for tha lower ride height and less Suspension travel.

Retensioned springs - (compressed Spring -standard) Are the same spring rate as standard but are
re-adjusted to a the required height.
Hence not compinsating for the lower ride height. ::)

Anyway my advice is -
If you go lower with the second method don't go any lower than 2.5inches unless you dont carry passengers and have great shocks   :-/.
Buying new standard shocks is alwayz good

Bilstein, KYB, and Koni make shocks for the city. They are dear though. The KYBs are the cheapest if you can find them.

I found KYB shockies on the net but dont seem to have found an aussie distributor??

Let me qualify that statement, KYB, KONI and Bilstein all used to make shocks for the city.

Proven performance in Aus will make up Konis for you (yellows or reds, the city shocks are listed on the superceeded catalogue). There are still some old stock about though (I got some old stock civic Konis a couple of years ago).

Likewise, Bilstien sold a special city performance kit including shocks and springs. I have a photo around somewhere, again, superceeded catalogues from around 86-88 are the place to look.

Last shocks I bought were KYB. Showa and KYB have very close linkages and the KYB shocks are good quality. I bought my last set of KYBs in Adelaide from Croyden Auto (Greenhill rd i think). They went into a silver T2 that is still getting about over there.
