Info on d15b+turbo swap into city T2?
Does any one have any links to info that would be relivent to swapping a D series such as a d15b in to a city T2?
Im sick of killing turbos on the stock engine from over boosting them and I know that you can get 200-250HP out of a stock d15b with a turbo very easily.
Id be swapping all the parts from a donar EG civic, And to over come the space problem with fitting a turbo Id be mounting the engine back further with a shortened intake manifold. Then stay with a half sized radiator so I have a bit more room.

Iv already got that book marked.

Id be mounting the engine back a bit more on a slight backwards lean because id have a much shorter intake manifold.
Also I wont have massive 4-1 exhaust headers lol.
Thanks for the reply tho.

Just upgrade the turbo on your motor even if you have to make an adapter spacer to change the bolt pattern, I have a spare motor with a CT12 which has been lightly modded to fit. And theres a few others which should be suitable. Holden rodeo turbo, small T25s or maybe if you can find a Garrett GT2510 (expensive) that might be a go as well in the correct A/R and trim, probably need to look at some compressor maps to work it out though.
You cant use EG hubs as they arent macpherson strut, take a look at the suspension setups of City vs EG civic its not going to work. Even a 1g crx / 3g civic hub (mac strut) wont work, the lower balljoint / arm will not allow it.
I think IF anything maybe some parts from a GA series city might work bolted to a D15B as they are D series (D12, D13) and have the small size axle splines in the diff I believe.

My mate and I were actually talking today about building just such an engine for my t2R.I'm not scared of cutting out a section of the firewall to make it fit and custom axles don't scare me at all.what I am concerned about would be the gearbox, since my t2 box has a thousand dollars of quaife LSD in it that I am naturally very keen to utilize do you know what options I have here could a t2 box be modified to fit? That would also solve the axle problem? Or is there LSD diffs available to fit the civic box?

Few of the D series boxs come factory LSD, And aftermarket ones cost around $700-800 depending on strength of NZD.
Iv been measuring everything up today and it should just fit with out having to modify the firewall if you get the intake manifold shortened and use a custom exhaust turbo manifold so you can mount the turbo lower in the gap where the aircon rad was.
My end goal is for close to 1000hp per ton. Did a 500HP D series tune last year for a guy, All he had done was turbo with forged rods/pistons and a port job with a turbo cam with the usual fuel system upgrades. Was running 26psi. In the city I would only need around 550hp-600hp to reach such a goal. But daily I would only want to be pushing 250-300hp. Which would just require rods.

A super-turbo D series is what I plan on using if I blow up the ER-5. Around 500HP for drag spec sounds good to me, and perfectly achievable.
As for gearboxes Matt, you might be better off trying to sell your box to someone on here? I very much doubt the whole unit will mate to a d series at all. There is a chance the diff could be made to fit a d-series, but by the time you have done all that work...
One option for cheap d series LSDs are the OBX ones. These are about $350USD and are copies of the quaife ones.

There are lots of guides on the net on how to take these apart when you get them, and make sure they have been assembled correctly. When they are put together right they work pretty well from what Ive heard.

After pulling my spare engine out of storage with a thought to build a manifold for a larger turbo I have come to the conclusion that I would rather put my time into building up a 1.5 v tec.
I talked to a few mates today that work at a local performance shop about having the conversion engineered so it is all legal and from their best advice I don't think I will worry,99.9% of stupid cops around here don't even know what the car is let alone if the engine in it is standard or not.so if I do my best to keep it looking as neat and as close to standard as possible I should be alright I recon.
And if not its nothing a dodgy blueslip can't fix
So now to find a front cut to get all my bits from. Frank from the workshop made a couple of calls and the only d15b engine he could get his hands on was a dual carby one.
I will send an email to an old mate who now works at just jap autoparts and see if he can get his hands on a front cut in good condition for me,and then I will take it from there I guess.

Yeah I feel the same way about the ER engine, just it's potential or lack thereof to flow as much as a newer D series head has got me concerned for the power output I'm chasing (around 350+hp).
So I bought me a D16y8 on eBay for $200 plus 5 speed gb. Need mounts for the engine and gb so I can start making up chassis mounts. Then there's the wiring harness, don't have much faith in my ability to make that work, but I did manage to make some Pedders (lame, but they did cost $50) WRX coilovers fit on the front of my T2. Rears need a new solution though.
